Tech4home Wins German Design Award

Tech4home has won the German Design Award 2020 for its Notus remote control system
– Notus Remote Control Family “meets all contemporary needs”

The prestigious honouring is presented by the German Design Council. Founded in 1953, it is the leading entity when it comes to expertise for brand and design in Germany. The jury praised the modern, sleek and instinctive design of the Notus System to “meet all contemporary needs.” The design experts stated that with its fine cambers and a gentle profile, the products set well in the hand and provided uncomplicated controls with intelligent features such as a backlight on the keypad.

Tech4home’s NOTUS family consists of two feature-packed sleek and easy-to-use remote controls developed with a user-centered approach and a unique design language. The NOTUS L remote control operates with set-top boxes and televisions. The smaller one is the NOTUS S, a full-featured version, which includes voice-search technology and an optional integration of Bluetooth Low Energy.

Metallic and glossy finishes on the prime buttons, matte fine-textures of the casing and the soft-rubber coating on the backside deliver a premium look and feel.

Simplicity and ease of use are key to both remotes. Clustered interrelated functions and the ergonomic shape of the buttons deliver an intuitive layout and by integrating a backlight feature in all models the intuitive usage doesn’t stop in low light conditions. The central keys of the NOTUS L lightens up through motion-sensing technology, highlighting the most relevant and frequently used functions. This technology is replicated to the NOTUS S unit where advanced technologies enable increased dynamicity and interactive usage.

With Notus, we once again wanted to focus on the user and create an RCU which is at the same time easy to use but has its own design language

Miguel Oliveira, Managing Director of Tech4home

The German Design Award 2020 is one in a series of accolades Tech4home has received over the years. For example, the company has been awarded with the Red Dot Design Award for three years in a row. “We are really proud to have been awarded this prize as it shows that our products are not only leading in terms of technology but also offer added value to the customer due to their unique design,” Oliveira said.

Being awarded with yet another high-profile design prize acknowledges our efforts in delivering the best usability and a distinctive design. But we’re not stopping there: we are extending the NOTUS family and will introduce new models in 2020, such as the Notus M, a perfect compromise between functionality and compactness.
